Description
Boy King began as a creative experiment and became something much deeper — a meditation on imagination, legacy, and presence.
The photograph was taken in my backyard with my son, who was nine years old at the time. I had seen a photographer on CreativeLive demonstrating a composite shooting technique — capturing a scene in multiple sections, then stitching it together later to create a cinematic image. I decided to try it for myself.
What started as a technical exercise became something transcendent. As I edited, I fell into a kind of flow — twelve hours passed without notice. I hadn’t eaten, hadn’t moved. It felt like time dissolved, and all that existed was this story coming to life.
The result is Boy King — a portrait of a child standing in tall grass, wrapped in a blanket as a cape, a paper crown on his head, holding a staff. It’s a symbol of imagination, of how children create entire worlds from simple materials — and how art, at its best, can reconnect us with that wonder.
Each boy king fine art print is produced on Hahnemühle German Etching paper, a museum-grade, textured matte paper that gives the image a timeless painterly quality. The tones, detail, and light come alive in a way that honors the emotion behind the process.
This print isn’t just about a boy with a crown. It’s about what happens when creation becomes meditation — when love and art exist in the same frame.
